Drillers Beat Travelers, 5-2
|
Behind a fine performance from Ricky Nieto, the Tulsa Drillers knocked off the Arkansas Travelers, 5-2. Nieto went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Drillers. Getting the save was Chris Coverdale, his 22nd. The Drillers saw their win-loss record go to 85-25. At the same time, the Travelers fell to 39-71.
Nieto contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Tulsa in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Nieto took a sinker from Zack Lawler and stroked the home run to right-center. His 25th home run of the season allowed the Drillers to leap in front, 3-2.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Tulsa manager Vicente Gutierrez.
