Slumping Travelers Lose 12th Straight
The Springfield Cardinals defeated the Arkansas Travelers, 7-6, in Texas League action at Hammons Field. Steve Marston pulled his weight. The 1-year veteran was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Springfield now owns a record of 69-41.

Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 29-year old left fielder Casey Manning had a chance to be the hero. Arkansas pitcher Vince Beer wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, Manning hit a sacrifice fly. The Cardinals had themselves a thrilling win.

"Losing makes me cranky," said Arkansas manager Mario Serrano. "And right now not even my dog wants to be around me."
