Missions Cut Down Drillers, 3-2
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. Fortunately for the San Antonio Missions, though, Dave Preston was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, to lead his team past the Tulsa Drillers, 3-2. Jeff Nolte picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Dan Willett suffered the loss. Allen Leslie recorded the save for San Antonio, his 11th of the season.

The Missions got a big hit from left fielder Davy Lewis. Facing Tulsa pitcher Rod Gutierrez in the bottom of the sixth, Lewis pounded a solo home run to right. His 11th home run of the season put the Missions ahead, 3-1.

"Every loss hurts," said Tulsa manager Nate Bouse. "But this was a tough one."

San Antonio currently is in first place in the South Division at 67-47.
