Springfield pitcher Pedro Salazar had a large part in his team beating the Frisco RoughRiders, 6-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The first-place RoughRiders dropped to 61-53.

Springfield used the timely hitting of Erik Adamic to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cardinals on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Springfield manager Tom King was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
