San Antonio Beats Tulsa, 3-1
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. But 33-year old shortstop Andrew Lankford produced just enough offense to carry the Missions past the Tulsa Drillers, 3-1. Lankford went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Allen Leslie recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 12 for 16. The first-place Missions sport a record of 68-47.
Lankford had a timely hit for San Antonio in the bottom of the sixth. With San Antonio trailing 1-0, he turned a 1-2 cutter into a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season, making it 2-1, San Antonio.
Lankford said his team "played with focus and determination."
