RockHounds Lose Late to Cardinals
The Springfield Cardinals topped the Midland RockHounds, 6-4, in Texas League action at Hammons Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Springfield second baseman Gustavo Ramirez. Matt Helsen came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 9-7. Shawn Esworthy notched his 3rd save of the season.

Ramirez had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch curveball from Justin Satern, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Cardinals a 6-4 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Ramirez.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Ramirez.

Springfield is second in the North Division with a record of 64-53.
