The Midland RockHounds beat the Springfield Cardinals by a score of 4-2. Midland right fielder Steve Witmer deserved the lion's share of the credit. Witmer was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the RockHounds. Mike Leingang was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Joe Chadburn.

Witmer had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Miguel Cervantes, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the RockHounds a 3-2 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Witmer.
