Springfield got a big-time effort from pitcher Shawn Esworthy, but it wasn't enough to keep the Frisco RoughRiders from winning the game, 4-1. Esworthy threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Josh Payne collected his 7th save. The RoughRiders are now 60-61.

The RoughRiders had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 4-1, Frisco, with no one out. Springfield, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Josh Jones dug in at the plate, but on a 2-0 cutter, he hit into a double play.
