Springfield Nets 7-6 Win Versus Hooks
The Springfield Cardinals besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Corpus Christi catcher Orlando Huerta by beating the Hooks, 7-6, at Hammons Field. Huerta went 2-5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Springfield reliever Scott Connell picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Reynaldo Vazquez was tagged with the loss. Springfield currently is in second place in the North Division at 78-45.

Cesar Mejia was the walk-off hero for Springfield. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

Mejia said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
