Hooks Lose Contest, 3-2
|
Kevin Thompson pitched well, but the Corpus Christi Hooks still fell short, losing, 3-2, to the Midland RockHounds at Security Bank Ballpark. Andy Ash, the winner, is now 1-1. He struck out 4 and walked 3 over 5.2 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. At 41-85, the RockHounds claim last place in the South Division.
Carlos de la Cruz had a big 3-run home run for the RockHounds in the bottom of the second inning. With Midland trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a curveball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Kevin Thompson and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the RockHounds on top, 3-1.
"Nervous? No," said de la Cruz. "It was my time to shine."
