The Corpus Christi Hooks topped the Midland RockHounds, 5-4, in Texas League action at Security Bank Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Corpus Christi pitcher and Karnes City, Texas, native Jordan Johnson. Johnson, now 9-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 4 runs. Corpus Christi is now 46-81, while Midland is 60-67.

Corpus Christi used the timely hitting of Kyle Croson to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hooks on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Jordan doing his thing just hyped us all up," said Corpus Christi manager Ka-fei Ong.
