Drillers Handle Travelers, 3-0
|
The Tulsa Drillers faced a tough opponent in Arkansas pitcher Matt Hamel, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Dickey-Stephens Park by a final score of 3-0. Hamel went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Tulsa reliever Mike Holst picked up the win, raising his record to 11-1. Matt Hamel was tagged with the loss. The win puts the Drillers at 94-33, while the Travelers drop to 48-79.
Russ Henson made an early impact for Tulsa when he stroked his 24th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which came with two out in the top of the first, put the Drillers on top, 3-0.
"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Henson.
