The 8-6 Midland win over Corpus Christi was due in large part to Juan Franco. The RockHounds first baseman was 2-4 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. With the win over Corpus Christi, the RockHounds improved to 61-67.

Bill Lodge had a big 3-run home run for the RockHounds in the bottom of the third inning. With Midland trailing 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Justin Matthews and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the RockHounds on top, 5-3.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Franco told the Midland Observer.
