Northwest Arkansas and Springfield duked it out and the Naturals came out victorious.
Northwest Arkansas Naturals starter Steve Barney pitched effectively against the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 4-2 win. The win went to Joel Wiegand in relief, making him now 2-0. Jamie Ward took the loss for Springfield.
Northwest Arkansas used a timely hit from Matt Myers to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Naturals ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Steve kept them off-balance, threw a great game for us," said Naturals manager Travis Brassard.
The Naturals improved their record to 57-73 with the win over Springfield.
