Getting an impressive start from Alan Cassetta, Corpus Christi beat San Antonio by the score of 2-0. Rich Friesz, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. With the victory, the Hooks record stands at 62-72.

Jeff Reed had a big solo home run for the Hooks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Corpus Christi leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a cutter from Ross Pepper, who is tied for 8th in the TEX in complete games with 2, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Hooks on top, 2-0.

"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Reed told the Corpus Christi Observer.
