Frisco RoughRiders starter Jerry Gibson pitched a strong game against the Midland RockHounds at Dr. Pepper Ballpark, leading the RoughRiders to victory, 7-5. Gibson yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 8-11. The RoughRiders improved to 65-69.

The RockHounds had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the RoughRiders going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old third baseman Andres Chiprez came to the plate. Chiprez hit a 3-run home run on a 2-1 fastball from Midland hurler Scott Delgado. It was Chiprez's 30th home run of the year.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Chiprez, "and then get after it again."
