Springfield 5-2 Losers to Drillers
|
Tulsa pitcher Mike Lawson did his part in helping his team beat the Springfield Cardinals, 5-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Tulsa reliever Mike Lawson got the win, raising his record to 5-3. Xavier Clayton was tagged with the loss. Mario Navarro notched his 25th save of the season.
Greg Stevens had a big 2-run home run for the Drillers in the bottom of the second inning. With Tulsa leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 34-year old right-handed pitcher Xavier Clayton and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Drillers on top, 4-1.
"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Lawson told the Tulsa Herald.
Tulsa is now 78-56.
