The Midland RockHounds weathered a fine game by Frisco shortstop Phil Roth to upend the RoughRiders, 6-5, at Security Bank Ballpark. Roth went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Joe Chadburn was credited with the save for Midland, his 4th of the season. Midland is now 56-79, Frisco 70-65.

Had Jose Cota not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Cota hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the RockHounds.

"We'll put that win in the can," said Cota, "and go after the next one."
