Cardinals Dump Northwest Arkansas, 5-4, to Win 7th in a Row

Though he had a terrific game, Luis de Leon could not prevent his team, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, from absorbing a loss. Springfield won the game, 5-4. de Leon went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Alberto Soria, the winning pitcher, is now 3-1. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 10 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 1. Jim Benoit wrapped it up, recording his 12th save.
Matt Krebs had a key at-bat with one out in the top of the fourth for Springfield. With the bases loaded and the Cardinals leading 1-0, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"This team is on a mission," said Krebs, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
At 89-47, Springfield is in first place in the North Division.
