Missions Rally to Nose Past Midland
|
The Midland RockHounds got a superb performance from pitcher Chad Pierce. Still, it wasn't enough to beat San Antonio. The Missions won the game, 2-1. Pierce threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The Missions move to 87-50 with the win, while the RockHounds drop to 53-84.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when San Antonio center fielder Ryan Giardina, facing John Loeb, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Missions the 2-1 win.
"We're in the driver's seat," said Giardina. "I like our chances."
