Riding the 2-hit performance of the 21-year old shortstop Erick Soto, the Midland RockHounds stopped the San Antonio Missions, 7-2, in 9 innings. Melvin Juarez got the win, improving to 12-12. He held the Missions to 2 runs on 5 hits over 8.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Midland is now 64-73, while San Antonio is 81-56.

The RockHounds got a big at-bat from first baseman Ron Nevils. For the game, Nevils was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 34th double of the season gave Midland a 2-0 lead.
