Muckdogs Suffer 8-0 Setback
|
The State College Spikes defeated the Batavia Muckdogs, 8-0, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. State College shortstop Scott DeMarinis had a superb performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Davey Smeets. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 7 hits in 6 innings. Batavia drops to 0-3.
The Spikes got a big at-bat from third baseman Han-seung Chung. For the game, Chung went 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave State College a 3-0 lead.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," DeMarinis told the State College Daily News.
