Scrappers Tuck Away 8-2 Win Over Auburn
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers topped the Auburn Doubledays, 8-2, with youngster Franklin Jimenez playing a key role. Jimenez went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Scrappers in the win. Josh Mashak got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. Auburn now has a record of 2-2.

Rick Hershberger had a big 2-run home run for the Scrappers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Mahoning Valley leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Luis Munoz and swatted a home run to center. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Scrappers ahead, 3-0.

"We understand we didn't play our best baseball," said losing manager Carlos Lugo. "We'll shower it off and be ready to compete."
