Salem Downed, 4-2, by Dash
|
The Winston-Salem Dash tallied a win at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium, throttling the Salem Red Sox, 4-2. Starting pitcher Tony Cardenas was a big reason for his team's success. Jim Moore earned the save, his 1st. The Dash, now 3-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Francisco Quinto? The 22-year old second baseman Quinto stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Winston-Salem up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
Salem manager Arturo Cobian said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
