In a seemingly effortless performance, John Wordell of the Lynchburg Hillcats shot down the Salem Red Sox, 6-0, on 5 hits.

"John was just locating so well and using his pitches," Lynchburg manager Angel Coria said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."

Wordell recorded 9 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.

"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Salem manager Tommy Gallant said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
