Though he had a terrific game, Oscar Montoya could not prevent his team, the Frederick Keys, from absorbing a loss. Winston-Salem won the game, 6-5. Montoya went 3-3 with 3 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Diego Puete in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Juan Rangel took the loss. Isaiah Joyner nailed down his 3rd save.

Johnny Sanchez came through with a big-time hit for Winston-Salem. The third baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Frederick skipper Jeremy Smejkal.

The win leaves Winston-Salem with a record of 4-3.
