The Potomac Nationals locked up a win at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium, knocking off the Carolina Mudcats, 4-3. On the mound for Potomac was right-hander Ian Vick. He played a major role in the triumph. Mario Escala earned the save for Potomac. Carolina now is 4-3.

Potomac took a 4-3 lead on Ruben Ortega's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Ortega hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Carolina pitcher Gerbrand Schelling visibly frustrated.

"I got in a good groove," said Vick. "I was getting some swings and misses."
