The Lynchburg Hillcats downed the Frederick Keys, 9-2, at Harry Grove Stadium. The Hillcats were led by Alex Zavala. Zavala was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The Hillcats are off to a tough start, getting just their 10th win in 25 games.

Lynchburg used a clutch at-bat from Ben LaPorte to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hillcats ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Lynchburg skipper Diego Perez.
