Winston-Salem got a strong outing from Jose Pineda as the Dash defeated the Salem Red Sox, 2-1, at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Pineda, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. With the win, Winston-Salem climbs to 3-5.

Winston-Salem used the timely hitting of Zion Taylor to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Dash ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"This is a great group to be a part of, and it's a big win for us," Taylor told the Winston-Salem Today.
