Pelicans Use Late Rally to Win

Carolina got a valiant performance from pitcher Antonio Melgar, but it wasn't enough to beat the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Myrtle Beach won the game, 5-2. Melgar threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 run for the losing team. Getting the save was Alex Lopez, his 1st. Myrtle Beach is off to a hot start at 6-3.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Eric Stewart? The 26-year old center fielder Stewart stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Myrtle Beach up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Myrtle Beach manager David Larson.
