The Lynchburg Hillcats and Wilmington Blue Rocks were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Wilmington Blue Rocks starter Vince Schmidt hurled his team past the Lynchburg Hillcats, 4-2. Schmidt got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Schmidt allowed 2 runs. Josh Sheeley recorded the save for Wilmington, his 2nd of the season.

Wilmington used a well-timed hit by Juan del Valle to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Blue Rocks ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," del Valle told the Wilmington Daily News.

Wilmington is now 6-3.
