Wilmington pitcher Arturo Melendez did his part in helping his team beat the Frederick Keys, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winning pitcher was Melendez, now 1-0. He tossed 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. Getting the save was Armando Rosa, his 3rd.

Luis de Leon had a big bases-clearing double for the Blue Rocks in the bottom of the second inning. With Wilmington leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Dave Majalca and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blue Rocks ahead, 4-0.

de Leon told a Wilmington Daily News reporter that he was "very happy" with the win.

Frederick now is 2-9.
