Winston-Salem Dash pitcher Gabriel Tauke was in top form, leading his team past the Carolina Mudcats, 6-1. The winning pitcher was Tauke, now 2-1. He tossed 6 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 8 and fanning 5. Dan Lulek picked up the save, his 1st.

Danny Schneider had a big 2-run home run for the Dash in the bottom of the first inning. With Winston-Salem leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a screwball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Cesar Estevan and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Dash on top, 3-0.

"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Jason Hawkins.

Carolina now has a record of 4-7.
