Ed Smith Stadium hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.

Lynchburg turned a good effort from starter John Schultz into a win over the Frederick Keys at Ed Smith Stadium. The final score was 2-0. Schultz yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-1. Danny Aguirre recorded his 3rd save for Lynchburg.

Alex Zavala had a big solo home run for the Hillcats in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Lynchburg leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Petteri Kuoppala and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Hillcats on top, 2-0.

"Winning is hard sometimes," said Hillcats manager Diego Perez. "This one was nice to get."

With the win, Lynchburg improves its record to 5-8.
