Thunder Get 6-3 Win Versus Richmond
|
Seth Ghering was instrumental in his team's 6-3 triumph over the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The shortstop went 1-2 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Trenton Thunder. Cesar Huizar earned the win for Trenton. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 2-1. J.P. Van Nostrand nailed down his 2nd save.
Trenton took a 4-3 lead on Chris Athay's 1st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Athay hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Richmond pitcher Mario Correa visibly frustrated.
"I really like what we did out there today," Athay said after the game.
The Thunder are off to a tough start, getting just their 3rd win in 13 games.
