Though the conditions were not ideal, the Lynchburg Hillcats and Wilmington Blue Rocks came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Hillcats earned a hard-fought, 8-2 win in 10 innings at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Wilmington pitcher Daniel Camargo. Camargo went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Lynchburg reliever Kyle Fruge picked up the win, while Alex Pena took the loss for Wilmington.
Victor Carbonell drew 2 walks for Lynchburg. The 19-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Alex Pena. It was his 7th walk of the season.
Said losing manager Bobby Clontz: "Give the Hillcats credit. They played a better game than we did."
Wilmington drops to 7-8.
