Nationals Earn 5-2 Win Against Hillcats
|
Lynchburg got a valiant performance from designated hitter Scott Jarvis, but it wasn't enough to beat the Potomac Nationals. Potomac won the game, 5-2. Jarvis threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Potomac pitcher Julian Fuentes got the win. He's now 1-0. Craig Darnell was tagged with the loss. Santos Cordero sewed up the save, his 1st.
Potomac relied on the bat of Joe Cain to get the win. The designated hitter ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Nationals ahead, 5-2. For the game, Cain had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"Our guys refused to lose," said Cain.
The win brings the Nationals to 6-10, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
