Lynchburg left fielder Alex Zavala made his presence felt in the 8-5 Hillcats triumph over the Potomac Nationals. Zavala went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The Nationals, now 4-12, continue their inauspicious start.

With Lynchburg leading 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth, Zavala hit a run-scoring single off Potomac hurler Juan Quiroz. It was the 16th hit of the season for Zavala and put his team ahead, 7-5.

"We're not exactly playing great right now," said Cruz Mares, the Potomac manager.
