Myrtle Beach 15-4 After 9-4 Win Over Potomac
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans weathered an outstanding game by Potomac second baseman Josh Cipolla to topple the Nationals, 9-4. Cipolla went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was John Williams, who threw 95 pitches over 5 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 6 hits. Myrtle Beach, now 15-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.

The Nationals had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Pelicans going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old third baseman Jonathan Manes came to the plate. Manes hit a run-scoring double on a 0-1 fastball from Potomac hurler Alex Muzquiz. It was Manes's 6th double of the year.

"It's fun to come to the yard every day when you're winning," said Myrtle Beach manager David Larson.
