Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Ed Smith Stadium.

The Salem Red Sox faced a tough opponent in Lynchburg pitcher Carlos Martinez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ed Smith Stadium by a final score of 6-5 in 10 innings. Martinez went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. The win leaves Salem with a record of 13-6.

Salem used a timely hit from Wessel Kamp to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Kamp.
