Keys Topple Dash, 5-3
|
The Frederick Keys defeated the Winston-Salem Dash, 5-3, in part because of first baseman Jamari Burney. Burney went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Keys. Justin Ramsey picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-2 on the season. He struck out 5 and walked 4 in 7 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Javier Hernandez was credited with the save for Frederick, his 1st of the season.
Burney had a timely hit for Frederick in the top of the sixth. With Frederick trailing 3-2, he turned a 1-1 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season, making it 4-3, Frederick.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Keys manager Jeremy Smejkal.
The loss drops the Dash to 10-10.
