Slumping Red Sox Lose Again
Lynchburg right fielder Brent Phelps helped his team beat the Salem Red Sox, 6-4. Phelps, who is tied for 6th in the CAR in bases on balls with 10, went 4 for 4 for the Hillcats. The winner was Juliano Capela, who threw 94 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 4 hits. With the loss, Salem drops to 7-14.

With Lynchburg leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Phelps hit a run-scoring single off Salem hurler Efrain Fernandez. It was the 16th hit of the season for Phelps and put his team ahead, 2-0.

"This game will humble you at times and you've got to buck up and deal with it," said Salem manager Arturo Cobian.
