Benefiting from Jalen Motley's productive game, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans downed the Lynchburg Hillcats, 6-4. Motley went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 for the Pelicans. Myrtle Beach pitcher Sergio Gaona earned the win, hiking his record to 5-0. Tim Tucker suffered the loss. The Pelicans, now 17-5, have played well so far.

Myrtle Beach used the timely hitting of Skyler McGuire to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pelicans on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Motley expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
