Carolina starter Antonio Telles pitched effectively against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Grainger Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-0. The win has Carolina at 10-16.

Carolina took a 2-0 lead on Joe Matthews's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Matthews hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Myrtle Beach pitcher Nick Kress visibly frustrated.

"It was a hard game, a hard night," said Myrtle Beach skipper David Larson.
