Carolina Befuddled by Majalca in 7-0 Loss
Dave Majalca of the Frederick Keys was on top of his game.

The 26-year-old tantalized the Carolina Mudcats with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 7-0.

"He had the changeup working," Carolina manager Jason Hawkins said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Frederick hurler had 10 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 6 hits in his complete-game effort.

Majalca told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

To date this year, Majalca shows a 1-3 record, 5 starts, 36.1 innings, 36 strikeouts and a 1.98 ERA.
