Salem turned a good effort from starting pitcher Allan Corbin into a win over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The final score was 4-2 in 11 innings. Salem reliever Eric Gore picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. David Joplin was saddled with the loss.
Salem won the game in part because of Jose Roman. The first baseman ripped a 2-run double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 4-2. For the game, Roman had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"Feels good to be on the winning side," said Corbin.
The win has Salem at 12-19.
