Wilmington turned a good effort from starting pitcher Vinny Nieto into a win over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. The final score was 3-2 in 12 innings. Katsumi Nagamine notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 4 innings. His record now sits at 1-1. The second-place Blue Rocks are now 18-17, the Pelicans 12-23.

The Blue Rocks got a clutch hit from right fielder Antonio Alvarez. In the bottom of the 12th, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Blue Rocks.

"It was a test of wills," said Bobby Clontz, the Wilmington skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
