Lynchburg Loses, 6-3, to Carolina in 11

The Lynchburg Hillcats got a sterling performance from pitcher Miguel Gauna, but the Carolina Mudcats still prevailed, 6-3. Gauna threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Carolina reliever Danny Stewart snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jose Leon shouldered the loss. The last-place Mudcats improved to 15-23.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Beau Burns? The 24-year old second baseman Burns stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Carolina up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"This game showed the grit and grind of our guys," said Burns.
