Flying Squirrels Send Akron Home with 3-1 Loss
|
The Diamond was the site of a tense game between the Akron RubberDucks and Richmond Flying Squirrels.
Richmond took on Akron in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Rod Strader, in particular, was fantastic. The Richmond right-hander helped his team snag the win, 3-1. Strader got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 2 hits and walked 4 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 1 run.
David Carroll Jr., who is tied for 3rd in the EL in RBI with 11, helped out the Richmond cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the center fielder drove in one run.
"The other side played a good game," said Akron manager Ted Allen. "You tip your cap to them."
With the win, Richmond improves its record to 9-4.
