Mudcats Claim Late Win
|
Carolina Mudcats starter Jason Langan found his groove in his team's 6-3 win over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Toshiya Jikihara, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 2.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. The Mudcats saw their record improve to 16-23.
Carolina took a 5-3 lead on Jim Unknown's 1st triple of the season. The bases-clearing triple, which Unknown hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Myrtle Beach pitcher Sergio Gaona visibly frustrated.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Unknown told the Carolina Times.
