Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Winston-Salem Dash got the win.

The Winston-Salem Dash knocked off the Lynchburg Hillcats, 4-2, in Carolina League action at Ed Smith Stadium. Winston-Salem pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Alfredo Silva had an outstanding performance. The third-place Dash hiked their record to 22-19.

Alex Flores, who leads the CAR in doubles with 14, had a direct impact on the outcome. Flores contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put Winston-Salem up, 3-0.

"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Winston-Salem manager Sam Simmons.
