In a low-scoring affair between the Winston-Salem Dash and the Frederick Keys, pitcher Diego Puete was the difference between victory and defeat. The Winston-Salem right-hander earned kudos in the 3-0 Dash win. The winning pitcher was Puete, now 6-1. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Dave Perez picked up the save, his 1st.

Winston-Salem used a well-timed hit by Tim Starks to capture the win. The catcher socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Dash ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Puete. "Successful pitchers do it."

With the win over Frederick, the Dash improved to 25-20.
